All about Tableau Tooltips

If you think the tooltip in the worksheet are annoying why don't you go ahead and remove them. Want to have a simple tooltip by disabling some features,  Its just a simple change. Go to Worksheet menu and select the Tooltip...Just follow as per the below screenshot

Now you will see a different window called Edit Tooltip as below:

As you see in the above window you can change the text that is to be displayed in the tooltip, you can format it (like change text color, bold/un-bold, italic, alignment, insert some parameters , constants, format the font). You need to just uncheck the tick mark beside "Show Tooltips" which will disable the tooltips completely from the worksheet. Let us talk about the command button below:

• Keep Only - creates a filter that removes all other data. See Select Data to Filter to learn more.

  Exclude- creates a filter that removes the selected data. See Select Data to Filter to learn more.
• Group Members - creates a group based on the selection. If the selection contains multiple dimensions, you can group on one dimension or all dimensions. See Groups to learn more.
• Create Set - creates a new set containing the selected members. You can create a new set or add members to an existing set. See Sets to learn more.
• View Data - opens a window displaying the data. You can view the summarized data or the underlying data. See View Data to learn more.

These commands are visible by default. You can disable the commands in the Edit Tooltip dialog box.

Disable tooltip commands

1. Click Tooltip on the Marks card or select Worksheet >Tooltip.
2. In the Edit Tooltip dialog box, clear the Include command buttons check box in the bottom left corner.
